Admission Process
Entry Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following educational qualifications:
- Passed 10th Standard from a recognized educational board with Science and Mathematics as subjects.
- Minimum 40% aggregate marks overall and 40% in English (in either 10th or 12th standard).
or
- For candidates native to Minicoy Island (Scheduled Tribe, Union Territory of Lakshadweep), the minimum qualification requirement is relaxed to 8th Standard Pass.
Age Limit
- Minimum: 17.5 years
- Maximum: 25 years (for Diploma or Degree holders, the upper age limit is 27 years)
Panel Interview
Eligible candidates will be invited to participate in an online interview and an online entrance test to assess their aptitude and suitability for a maritime career.
Medical Examination
Selected candidates must undergo a comprehensive medical examination conducted by a DG Shipping–approved doctor to ensure physical fitness for sea service.
For convenience, candidates may also complete the examination through our in-house DG Shipping–approved medical officer.
Pre-Sea Training
Candidates who qualify through the selection process will undergo 6 months of DG Shipping–approved pre-sea training in the General Purpose Rating (GP Rating) course, preparing them for a rewarding career at sea.
